Costa Gift Card Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to use of all Costa Gift Cards.
In these Terms and Conditions: "Costa", "we" or "us" refers to Costa Limited a company incorporated in England with company number 01270695 whose registered office is at Costa Limited, Costa House, 6 Porz Avenue, Houghton Hall Business Park, Houghton Regis, Dunstable, Beds, LU5 5YG . "you" refers to the purchaser and/or user of the Costa Gift Card.
Purchase and/or use of a Costa Gift Card will constitute acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using your Costa Gift Card. If there is anything you do not understand, please contact us using the contact details in paragraph 12.
We recommend that you keep a copy of these Terms and Conditions for future reference. These Terms and Conditions are only available in English.
Costa Gift Cards remain the property of Costa Limited.
For Costa Gift Cards purchased online at gifting.costa.co.uk (“Site”), additional Terms and Conditions relating to the sale of such Gift Cards apply at paragraph 13.
2. Using your Costa Gift Card
You may use your Costa Gift Card to purchase eligible items at any participating Costa coffee shop outlets in the UK excluding Northern Ireland. 'All non-participating stores can be found here.' Costa Gift Cards are not able to be redeemed in any Costa Express or Proud to Serve outlet. When you use your Costa Gift Card the amount of your purchase will be deducted from the balance on the card. The remaining balance may be applied to future purchases. Change will not be given. If your purchase exceeds the balance on the Costa Gift Card you must pay the excess by another payment method.
You may check the balance on your Costa Gift Card at any participating Costa outlet or on the Site. You may not top up the balance on your Costa Gift Card however you may transfer any outstanding balance to a new Costa Gift Card at any participating Costa outlet or by contacting Customer Services at www.costa.co.uk/contact-form. Costa Gift card balances cannot be used to purchase gift vouchers or additional gift cards. You may not exchange or redeem your Costa Gift Card for cash. No change or refunds will be given where the sales transaction is for an amount less than the balance on the Costa Gift Card.
We reserve the right to refuse to accept damaged Costa Gift Cards or any Costa Gift Card which we believe has been stolen, duplicated, tampered with or is being used fraudulently or is otherwise suspected to be affected by fraud.
One or more Costa Gift Cards can be redeemed against a single order but no more than five.
The maximum value of Costa Gift Cards that can be uploaded at any one time is £75.
3. Expiration and Cancellation
Your Costa Gift Card and the balance on it will expire if the card is not used to make a purchase for 12 consecutive months. We reserve the right to cancel your Costa Gift Card if we suspect it has been stolen, is being used fraudulently or in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
4. Loss, Theft, Damage
You should take care of your Costa Gift Card and treat it like cash. Costa is not responsible for lost or stolen cards. You should immediately report any loss, theft, fraudulent or unauthorised use of your Costa Gift Card to Customer Services at www.costa.co.uk/contact-form If you lose your Costa Gift Card or it is stolen or damaged we may, at our sole discretion, issue a replacement Costa Gift Card credited with the unused balance from your lost/stolen/damaged card. We will require your Costa Gift Card number and proof of purchase before we can consider any request to replace your Costa Gift Card. If you subsequently find or retrieve a Costa Gift Card which you have reported lost or stolen, you must notify Customer Services immediately.
5. Costa Club
Purchases made with Costa Gift Cards in participating Costa outlets will be eligible to earn Costa Club beans on valid purchases if you are a registered Costa Club member. Please ensure your Costa Club card is swiped or that you scan your Costa Club mobile app in the usual way when you make your purchase. You cannot use Costa Club beans to purchase Costa Gift Cards. You cannot earn Costa Club beans when you purchase a Costa Gift Card. For further details please refer to the Costa Club Terms and Conditions.
6. Resale/Use in Promotions
You may only use your Costa Gift Card for your personal non-commercial use. You may not sell your Costa Gift Card. Costa Gift Cards may not be used in sales or promotional activities including as giveaways or prizes in competitions without the prior consent of Costa. Costa reserves the right to cancel any Costa Gift Card that it suspects has been resold or obtained in connection with an unauthorised sales or promotional activity.
7. Data Protection and Privacy
You may be asked to provide certain personal information, including your name, address and contact details. You agree that the information you provide to us will be true, accurate, current and complete in all respects. You also agree to notify us of any changes in this information. We are committed to maintaining the security of your personal information in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. All personal information you provide to us will be used in accordance with our Privacy policy.
8. Liability of Costa
Costa shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with your use of a Costa Gift Card where such loss or damage arises from any cause beyond our reasonable control. If we fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions for a reason within our reasonable control, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our negligence, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence of our breach or if it was contemplated by you and us at the time we entered into these Terms and Conditions. Where any loss or damage arises from a cause within our control, our liability to you shall not exceed a sum equal to the balance on your Costa Gift Card as at the date that such loss or damage occurs. This clause shall not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
9. Termination / Variation
We reserve the right to amend or waive any provision of these Terms and Conditions from time to time or to terminate the Costa Gift Card service on reasonable notice. The Terms and Conditions applicable to the use of a Costa Gift Card shall at any time be the terms and conditions published on the Site and/or www.costa.co.uk and your continued use of a Costa Gift Card shall constitute your acceptance of such terms and conditions.
10. General
These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement and understanding between us and you with respect to your use of the Costa Gift Cards.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions are unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these Terms and Conditions and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
Any failure or delay by us in enforcing (in whole or in part) any provision of these Terms and Conditions will not be interpreted as a waiver of our rights or remedies.
We may transfer the benefit of these Terms and Conditions to any other company in the same group of companies as Costa. If we assign the benefit of these Terms and Conditions, your rights will not be affected.
Costa reserves the right to add to or waive these Terms and Conditions on reasonable notice for legal, security or regulatory reasons or to discontinue the Costa Gift Card scheme at any time in the event of circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Customers will be notified in advance via in-store displays in the event of any such change.
11. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law. These Terms and Conditions are only available in English. You agree, as we do, to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. If you live in Scotland you will also benefit from any mandatory provisions of Scottish law and can bring legal proceedings in respect of the Prize Draw and these terms and conditions in either the Scottish or the English courts.

13. Additional Terms and Conditions which apply to Costa Gift Cards purchased online
In addition to paragraphs 1-12 of these Terms and Conditions, this paragraph 13 also applies to purchase of Costa Gift Cards through the Site (“Online Costa Gift Cards”).
a) Sales of Online Gift Cards through the Site are managed and fulfilled by a third party. The maximum value of Costa Gift Cards that can be purchased in any one order is £75.
b) Online Costa Gift Cards ordered through the Site shall either:
i) in the case of physical Online Costa Gift Cards (“Physical Gift Cards”), be sent the delivery address(es) stated on each individual order. Deliveries are normally dispatched within two working days unless a specified later delivery date is requested. Where possible Costa will try to meet all delivery requirements but shall not be liable for any loss incurred either directly or indirectly by failure to meet the delivery date and time indicated at the time of order being placed. ‘Loss’ in this instance includes loss of profit, costs, damages, charges or other expenses; or
ii) in the case of email Online Gift Cards (“Email Gift Cards”) shall be dispatched by email to the designated email account as soon as payment for the Email Gift Card has been cleared.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery email address or physical address entered is correct Costa cannot be responsible for the incorrect delivery of Online Costa Gift Cards due to an error by you (such as, a mis-typed email address or physical address).
c) In the case of Physical Gift Cards, risk will pass to you upon delivery and title will pass upon receipt of payments in full. Costa can not be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged Physical Costa Gift Cards following delivery to the recipient. Costa is not responsible for funds on the card used without your knowledge.
d) Online Costa Gift Card quantities should be checked immediately by the recipient upon receipt (it is the purchaser’s obligation to ensure this is done if the recipient is different to the purchaser). Any discrepancies must be notified immediately (it is the purchaser’s obligation to ensure this is done). Costa cannot be held responsible for shortage or loss of any Online Costa Gift Cards not notified to Costa within three days of delivery.
e) Cleared payment is required prior to the dispatch of orders. Payment is taken automatically at the time of purchase. Your credit/debit card statement will read 'Costa Coffee Gift Card'. Costa reserves the right to decline any order without providing explanation. Costa will not be given access to your credit/debit card details.
f) Online Costa Gift Cards are only available for purchase in pounds sterling using a credit or debit card.
g) The re-sale of Online Costa Gift Cards is strictly prohibited.
h) Costa cannot be held responsible for Email Gift Cards that cannot be delivered due to the recipient's spam filters, firewalls, capacity of the mailbox, any other factors outside of Costa’s reasonable control.
i) Costa Gift Cards are exempt from Costa’s refund policy except for Online Costa Gift Cards. The purchaser of the Online Gift Card has the right to cancel the Online Costa Gift Card within 14 working days of receipt provided the Online Costa Gift Card has not been used. In case of cancellation, Costa will endeavour to refund the amount of the gift card to the original payment method used during ordering within 30 days of cancellation.
The purchaser of the Online Gift Card must inform us of its intention to cancel the purchase within 14 days of the date the Online Gift Card is received we recommend this is done by either emailing Costa at www.costa.co.uk/contact-form or telephoning Costa on 03330035883.
Please include a clear statement of the wish to cancel the purchase, provide evidence of proof of purchase, details of name, address, details of the order to cancel and, where provided to Costa as part of an order, the purchaser’s phone number and email address.
